Ambassador Incentive Program

Northside Christian School will be continuing our Ambassador Incentive Program for the 2009-2010 school year. We initiated this program June 1, 2008 because we know that in order to grow our student body, satisfied parents are our best marketing tool. This program will provide $400 tuition credit for current families when a new family they recommend is accepted and attends NCS for the 2009/10 school year. The new family will also receive five new uniform shirts as their gift from NCS. In order to receive the tuition credit, please be sure and have the new family mention your family as their reference. If you have any questions, please

Tux Paint

Kindergarten students began using Tux Paint today and our older students continue to use the program. The program is FREE and you may download it by clicking on the link below and following the directions. After you download the program you will need to go back to the link and download the stamps.
Tux Paint is a free, award-winning drawing program for children ages 3 to 12 (for example, preschool and K-6 in the US, key stages 1 & 2 in the UK). It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program.

Dance Mat Typing

Second Grade

Our second graders have started the Dance Mat Typing program. At the end of first grade they were introduced to this program in the computer lab. I have been so pleased with how quickly they have worked through Level 1. For additional practice students may click on the Dance Mat Typing link (to the right under second grade).

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade

Your student is repeating Dance Mat Typing at their own pace in computer class. If your student is new to Northside this year I strongly suggest using this site at home. They may click on the Dance Mat Typing link (to your right) for additional practice. After they complete all levels (in class) they will move on to other typing activities.

Throughout the year students will be given the opportunity to take a typing speed test which will measure their speed along with accuracy. This is always helpful and encourages the extra practice.

Headphones for each student

In the computer lab sound is a very important part of the majority of websites and programs we use. This year each student will receive headphones to use in the computer lab and in the classroom. These are durable headphones and should last until your student completes fifth grade.

If your student damages or loses their headphones the replacement cost is $20.00. Students may only use the headphones we provide here at the school and may not substitute any other headphone. Headphones should NEVER go home with the student. We will mark and store the headphones throughout the school year and over summer. Portable headphones will allow us to take advantage of the technology we offer not only in the lab but in our classrooms.
I also want to encourage the students to visit my website weekly and take advantage of the links under their grade level. Many of these links are the ones I use in class with your students so they will be familiar with the activities. Teachers will also be using these links to reinforce skills in class.

Thank you for allowing me to work with your children. I am looking forward to this school year and the things God has in store for us!
